Amerigo Boats
| The Amerigo Vespucci
The Amerigo Vespucci was planned by Lieutenant Colonel Francesco Rotudini following the trends of war sailing vessels. It was launched at the navy shipyards of Castellammare di Stabia, Naples, Italy in 1931. She still sails to this day as a naval training vessel for Italy.
This fine and highly complex 1:84 scale model was made mostly from the
Mantua Kit and took approximately 2800 hours to build. Many of the parts
were hand fabricated to improve upon those supplied in the kit, such as the
propellers on the six motor launches and oars for the life boats. There are
even some tiny maps in the wheelhouse!
The model is 51" long, 29"high and 7.5" wide.
