The Bluenose
The Schooner Bluenose was built in Nova Scotia in 1921 to fish the rough waters off the coast of Newfoundland. A salt banker type, she had the ability to stay out until her holds were full, using salt to preserve the catch. A $4000.00 prize was offered to the schooner that won a series of 40 mile races, the Bluenose beat New Englands Elsie in 1921, won three races in 1922, two in 1923 and three more races in 1931.
The wood ship model of the Bluenose schooner is a plank on frame model and built from a Model Shipways kit. Measurements are length 32" inches, Height 26 1/2" inches, width 5" inches. Offered at the vary reasonable price of 800.00 US. Hurry, this model won't
