MODEL OF THE MONTH WINNER

Two royal English yachts were called "Royal Caroline". The first one, laid down in the shipyards of Sheerness in 1700, was a boat we know well by the name of the Peregrine Galley. After an appropriate adaptation of work, this ship which had been serving in the Royal Navy for a long time, had the honour to renamed “Royal Caroline”. On the contrary, the second one was launched in 1749 in the shipyards of Deptford. The old “Royal Caroline” was returned to the British Navy and received back its name of Peregrine Galley. She ended her service tragically, sunk with the entire crew in the Bay of Biscay. That was in the year 1761, the same year the “Royal Caroline” was renamed Royal Charlotte going on to serve the royal British family until 1805. It was completely destroyed in 1820.

This model was built by a Master Shipwright from Russia, and took over 3000 hours to complete. It is constructed according plans taken from Chapman's "Architectura Navalis Mercatoria" book. Built to the accepted scale of 1:48, The model's overall dimensions are
L = 845 mm
H = 649 mm
W = 312 mm

Costly wood species such as Ebony, pear, walnut and various kinds of mahogany were used for the deck and hull planking. The model is now complete with pearwood sparring and hand laid rigging, full photos are available upon request. Only non-ferrous metals were used, and the model was not painted, allowing the expert craftsmanship and artistry to be entirely visible. The incredibly crisp and detailed carvings were done in Applewood.

This is truly a rare opportunity and a one of a kind masterpiece, offered at $20,000 US.

The model is for sale at the price of $20,000.00 US including display case . Packaging, shipping and Insurance will depend on destination and will be quoted separately. The model is now 99% finished as shown. Running rigging will be added once an offer is accepted.

GST will be added to all orders with a Canadian destination.
