| THE ROYAL YACHT CAROLINE
Built at Bedford in 1749 as King George II’s principal royal yacht, the Royal Caroline was one of the most splendid vessels of all time. The ship was also a uniquely important link in the development of fast-sailing vessels in the Royal Navy.
The ship’s lines were scaled up for some of the new frigates and sloops in the 1750’s. In constant use by the Royal Family until 1805,she was dismantled in 1820. This beautiful and richly colored model was built using in the plank on bulkhead fashion from the 1/47 scale Mantua kit.
This model won awards in the two contests it was taken to (second in San Antonio and first in Austin). The color on the sides appears to be aqua, but is actually more blue. A tremendous value at its asking price of only $3000
