The launching of the San Felipe in 1690 began its career of engaging the British and French Navies while protecting the galleons that were bringing to Spain the plunder from the Caribbean and South America. Even though the San Felipe played a major role in protecting the colonial Spanish Settlements as well as escorting ships on the long voyage back to Spain, very little factual information can be found on how she actually looked in her heyday. What is found on record only provides a basic picture of her design and weaponry.

This model of the San Felipe is a representation of what information was available on her in conjunction with what was known of the Spanish Man of Wars of that period. The accompanying pictures illustrate the level of detail in the rigging and hull ornamentation resulting from that research.

The hull is made of African Walnut which is butted and treenailed to maintain its accuracy. Her upper hull and decks are decorated with nearly 200 bronze ornate pieces. At 38 inches in length and 34 inches in height she will make a impressive addition to your home or workplace.
