This ship, a third rate with 74 cannon was built by the French in 1708. She was 143 feet long with a beam of over 40 feet. At 1,029 ton, she carried adequate provisions to remain at sea with a crew of approximately 600 men for up to six months.
This model is of double plank-on-bulkhead construction, and represents more
than a year of work. Some of the changes to the Mantua kit include
substitution of the three plastic long boats with double-planked wood ones
along with replacement of the wood photo-etched parts with brass ones. The
planking is very gracefully done, and the overall workmanship is impeccable.
She is 43 inches long, 34 inches high and a scale of 1:75.
