| The HMS Revenge
A solid hull model, built years ago and restored in the 1990s. The original Revenge was built about 1560. With a crew of 135 men, it was commanded by Admiral Drake during the Armada battles in the English Channel in 1588, taking part in the channel battles, including Gravelines, and capturing a Spanish galleon as a prize. Three years later, in 1591, the vessel, under Admiral Richard Grenville, was part of a small British fleet searching for Spanish treasure fleets off the Azores, in the Atlantic. Surprised by a superior Spanish fleet, Revenge was surrounded by the Spanish and fought alone for fifteen hours against sixteen enemy ships, sinking two, until eventually surrendering the next day. She sank in a storm a few days later.
