The Sea Witch
The Clipper Ship Seawitch was launched form Lower Manhattan in 1846. She was destined to amaze the world with her accomplishments. In her first voyage to China in 1847, she arrived in New York harbor laden with tea after only 77 days at sea. Two years later she covered the same course in only 75 days. Both passages have set records that have never been equaled. She sank off the coast of Cuba in 1856.
The model of the Seawitch has been constructed from a 1960's ventage Scientific Model Company kit. It is of solid hull construction, which has been planked with walnut vaneer. She comes with a full set of billowed sails. She has been finished with a clear gloss wood finish to show off her natural wood beauty. The deminsions of the model are: 28"inches long, 20"inches tall, 8"inches wide. This is a great model for the economically minded buyer. There is no display case offered with this model.
