The Eagle - THIS MODEL HAS BEEN SOLD
Originally named the Horst Wessel and built as a sail training vessel
for the German Navy, Eagle came into possession of the US as a result of
reparations following the 2nd World War. She was then re-fitted for use
by the Coast Guard Academy in New London, Connecticut.
Whilst still under the German flag, the barque was converted to carry
men and supplies in the Baltic, during which service she had a narrow
escape when her skipper avoided an air raid on Kiel by taking his charge
to Flensburg. Some months later another narrow escape occurred when the
barque was making her way to the USA in 1946 and she was caught in a
hurricane.
This reproduction of the Eagle is handcrafted and painted to match
original as closely as possible. All wooden details are hand made and
not from the kit. Many hours were spent on the careful construction of this
beauty, the modelers dedication being quite apparent.
This high caliber model is offered at $5000 US, and comes complete with a
Plexiglass case which measures 38" x 24"h x 12"d
|
The model is for sale at the price of $5000.00 US and includes plexiglass case. Packaging, shipping and Insurance will depend on destination and will be quoted separately.
GST and PST will be added to all orders with a Canadian destination.
