| THE HMS VICTORY - The Ultimate Model
Ladies and Gentleman, its hard to imagine that a model like this really exists. 30 years and over 4000 hours in the making, the builder anticipates that it will be completed by the end of 2005, and is offering it for sale
exclusively here at Tallshipmodels.com. I have personally inspected this
outstanding model and am absolutely amazed at the level of detail.
It is of plank on bulkhead and frame construction. Bulkheads are used below
the main gun deck to provide additional strength and alignment. Frames are
used above the level of the gun deck, as all gun decks are complete with
guns, fittings and rigging used in the original ship. The coppering is
totally authentic and has been weathered most convincingly.
The gun decks are equipped with small electric lights running at half
voltage and covered to simulate the oil lanterns used on the ship. Views of
the interior can be seen through the gun ports and stern windows, and it is
truly like gazing at the real thing! There is a plan to provide better
views of the interior on video using a fiber scope.
The ship's wheel is fully functional and actually turns the rudder. The
stern window assembly is removable to allow access to the officers quarters
and to enhance viewing capabilities. The main hatch is removable on all
decks to facilitate access to the decks should a gun or other part need
repair. All of the gun port lids are fully functional and their lanyards can
be fastened so that they remain open and the guns may be run out.
The model will be rigged with all standing rigging and the running rigging
used to support and control the yards. If sails are installed they will be
furled to the yard so they do not inhibit viewing of the model.
This model is over 8' long and is visually stunning, the photographs do not
